Berryz Koubou AH3 blu-ray released on 2013/07/24 with a total playtime of only 1 hour and 30 minutes makes it a little bit on the short side. So lets get to the main DVD in more detail.
Berryz Home Alone.
Berryz home alone. In this segment which takes about 20 minutes, which is also the longest part on the DVD, the girls sit in a living room with a bunch of cameras and 3 of their own mobiles recording as well. Via an iPad they receive missions and text from the staff.
But before we get to that, there was one moment in this segment that in my opinion was the only funny thing happening.
So with that out of the way, lets get to the “game” it self. I say “game” because they gave the girls two missions to do. The first 15 minutes of the 20 total were pretty much just talk, point, talk, point. They received a theme, started pointing, and gave the reason as to why they pointed to the particular girl in question. Not very exciting if you ask me, but it had its moments of cuteness.
The Cuteness started when the topic “Thank you” popped up and they all pointed to Captain as that was the person everybody wanted to thank. One moment was where Risako wasn’t able to keep down her coughing/sneezing while Miyabi was explaining her reason to “Thanking Captain”. It was a pretty cute moment on Risako’s part and in a way a little funny because the other members had a look on their face saying something like “WTF”. Another moment goes to Risako and Captain, when it was Risako’s turn to say something nice or thanking Captain, Captain had a hard time keeping her emotions in, and started making Risako teary eyed as well. Other than these two things nothing really happened in the first 15 minutes of the 20 total segment time. It was all talk and pointing.
For the last 5 minutes of the segment they went to mission two. The iPad would give them a topic and all they had to do was, together say out loud whatever they were thinking at the same time. Nothing much of excitement happened here, but there was one topic that I thought was interesting, especially the answers that were given.
The topic was “Who is the main rival of Berryz Koubou”
- Chinami – Nobody
- Momoko – Nobody
- Kumai – C-ute
- Maasa – C-ute
- Miyabi – AKB
- Risako – C-ute
- Captain – C-ute
First up we notice that they aren’t all on the same page when it comes to their own rival, but an interesting one to me is Miyabi saying AKB. First of I understand why Miyabi would choose AKB as I would say AKB would be everybody’s main rival, but in the case of Berryz Koubou to me personally they aren’t even close to being in the same league as AKB. So competing against AKB to me seems somewhat pointless and I think it would be better to just try to compete with someone smaller than AKB. So I believe that Miyabi’s answer here is a little bit overambitious. Also the two that answered “Nobody”. What does this even mean? Do they think that they’re doing fine or not fine at all so they don’t need/are worth a rival? Or do they think times have changed and rivals aren’t that important any longer? I’m not really sure why they answered with “Nobody” but hey, if you’re reading this, discuss away at what you think. I believed myself that C-ute was the main rival of Berryz Koubou, as apparently most of the Berryz Koubou members do as well. But with that all said, this ends the “Berryz Home Alone” segment. In the end it had its cute moments, interesting moments, but still in a way quite boring to watch as well.
